On The Road Again

The Council Key 3 saw us off.

Hanging out with Babe Ruth.

The Louisville Slugger Museum was great.

Indiana University in Bloomington is a short drive.

However, Indiana has some measurement issues?

Some of the best pizza ever at this place.

Several Kawida members attended the Trade-O-Ree.

Getting up at 0'Dark thirty to drive the van to NOAC. Doug Ramey is taking a van too. 12 members from the Kawida contingent this time, along with 16 Staff members. Pretty good numbers is you ask me. See you all there!

Fire Starting

Aaron and Will led a primitive fire starting class last night.

It is a little tricky at first.

Even the adults gave it a try.

Hot Sparks and cotton balls are fun.

Flint and steel is a little harder.

Frank Seale

Veteran Scouter, Frank Seale passed away last evening. Frank was a long time District Commissioner out of Lexington in the Palisades District.

Frank was from Wise, VA and was a big part of the Lonesome Pine Council and Camp Shawnee.

May the Great Scoutmaster of All Scouts, be with Diane and the entire Seale family.

Closer To NOAC

Save a little extra money to buy some of the Kawida 2 piece trader sets for NOAC.

Things are starting to get really hot and you will need a bunch!

Webmaster

A new Scout leadership position patch popped up on Scout Stuff.org recently. It looks like a Troop Webmaster is a new one.

Khaki position emblem for Webmaster position. Picture of computer with a FDL on screen. The Webmaster is responsible for the troop website. He should work with an adult leader to keep information on the web site about the troop such as pictures of past activities and dates and information of upcoming events and activities.

More Changes

It seems that the great Lonesome Pine is losing some key leadership.
1. Our District Chairman, Mark Wiete.
2. Our District Executive, Jeremy Tackett.

Mark is heading out to Arizona for a new banking job and Jeremy is going to be the full time Youth Minister at the First Presbyterian Church, here in Pikeville. I guess that means we lose a good D.E., but pick up a great Troop Chaplain.

Our Council is already working on Jeremy's replacement and we shall endure as we always have.

Good luck to Mark and Jeremy! Both of you guys did a great job for Scouting!

Thanks!

New Ecology Shelter

Early in 2009, the Ecology Shelter was destroyed by falling trees. While we were at Summer Camp last week a new one was constructed. Doug Ramey spent the entire week constructing this fine new addition for Camp McKee, out of his own pocket and sweat.

A BIG SCOUT SALUTE to Doug Ramey and all those who helped!
