Fall Fellowship 2004

Don and Billy have been bugging me about starting an O.A. Chapter. I have no idea what to do, so I decide to go up to McKee to my first O.A. event in a very long time.

I got to meet some very nice folks. Harold Phillips the Lodge Adviser was great. Alan Watts gave me some great tips. The person who helped the most was C. Watts. She sat me down, handed me a stack of papers, and basically trained me on Chapter stuff in a short while.

Here in the Lonesome Pine, we are the Tomahaken Chapter.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Spring Camporee 2004

Our first District Camporee! Middle Creek Battlefield in Prestonsburg. We had some interesting brown eggs for breakfast, but they were good. We got to use the new Troop equipment that the First Presbyterian Church purchased for us.

There was an Order of the Arrow tap out ceremony on Saturday night and Don Combs, who joined Troop 12, from Troop 10, was tapped out.

I hope he has a good time in the O.A.

Puke-O-Ree

Well, we had sign ups on Wednesday. Our first meeting on Tuesday and of course we go camping on Friday night. Mike Shepherd and I load up the van and trailer with a bunch of new Scouts for the "New Scout Camp Out" at Camp McKee.

Se stop and eat at the Food Court in Stanton. I've never seen so much food consumed! On the way to McKee, someone "lets one" and Will Goff pukes, which triggers another Scout puking. There isn't a good place to pull over and it is dark. We finally pull up in front of this old house and it looks rough. I'm just hoping that we don't get shot at!

I get out and open the side door of the van. The smell hits me and I turn green! Mike takes over. Two girls come out of the house and bring us some paper towels and garbage bags. They are nice.

We get cleaned up and finally make it to McKee. The event was wonderful.

Our first camp out: The Puke-O-Ree and we vow to blow the horn every time we pass that old house!
