Time To Work

Today we had our Starburst program, which basically meant that we put on old blue jeans, t-shirt, and gloves and went out to work. I went with the "Hill Scouts" of the Fire Puma Patrol to Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum in Marks Tey.

What a wonderful place. We got to wonder through all of the gardens and different trees. They have 160 of 200 acres developed so far, in only 20 years.

We first picked up large roots from a future tree site. It had been a while since I walked a plowed field, but it was like old times for me. After lunch we went to another site and picked up old World War II brick rubble from East London. That made me think. Our guide told us, we picked up 7 tons. We were with another group from the US and England, so the work wasn't bad at all.

It was kind of nice to get off site and see something different. We even got to lay in the soft British grass, under a shade tree after lunch. Very nice indeed, since they have no snakes or poisonous spiders over here.
